18 Facts About Resorts World at Sentosa – 2nd Integrated Resort in Singapore
Resorts World at Sentosa (Chinese: 圣淘沙名胜世界) is the name of the integrated resort in development stages on the island of Sentosa, off the southern coast of Singapore. The S$6.59 billion (US$4 billion) integrated resort is developed by Genting International, the overseas investment arm of the Genting Group. Due to complete in early 2010, the mammoth resort will occupy over 49 hectares (121 acres) of land and will employ more than 10,000 people directly.
Universal Studios Singapore, incorporated as part of Resorts World at Sentosa, will be Southeast Asia’s first and only Universal Studios theme park and it will feature 24 attractions, with 18 rides exclusively designed for the park, including a pair of dueling roller coasters where friends and siblings can “compete” on separate coasters that meet in near-collision moments. The park will be divided into seven zones – including Sci-Fi City, Egypt, New York, The Lost World and Hollywood.
