Advertlets is a Scam Advertising Network? Advertlets Not Paying? I Hate You Advertlets?!
Updates (18 Nov 2009): Adverlets had made payment to Wayang Times. You can check out the details in this post “Advertlets Payment Made in 24 Hours! Advertlets is Not a Scam for Wayang Times!”
Advertlets is a scam advertising network based in Malaysia and Singapore? Advertlets is not paying blog publishers? These are some of the questions that have been running through my mind lately. And I think I am beginning to hate Advertlets.com.

And my feelings are not unjustified or without basis, considering that I have ample experiences using a few other reputable ad networks and thus have the opportunities to compare the different payment and service standards. The advertising networks I have used includes:
- Chitika;
- Clickbank;
- ;
- Google Adsense;
- Adbrite;
- Nuffnang; and
- Advertlets
The problems that Wayang Times are facing with Advertlets are:
1. Advertlets is not paying!
I first cashed out a few hundred Ringgit on end August 2009. It is now more than 3.5 months later but Advertlets cashout status is only showing as processing and have yet to pay me. I do not have this problem with the other advertising networks I use. In fact they are all way faster than Advertlets. And they actually pay.
2. Advertlets did not credit for sponsored post!
I did a sponsored post in early August 2009 for Advertlets for one of their advertisers: Straits Times’ ST701. To-date, they have yet to credit the promised payment to my account.
3. Advertlets’ customer service support is not responsive!
I emailed Advertlets about 2 months after I cashed out my first earnings on end August 2009 to enquire why I have yet to receive payment from Advertlets. They took almost a week to reply that it will take 3 months to process the payment. I also emailed Advertlets twice to enquire why they did not credit my account with the payment for my sponsored post for ST701, but they totally ignored me.
Conclusion for Advertlets (for now)
At the point of writing this post, I would recommend the following:
- Publishers: Think twice before signing up for Advertlets. So what if the earnings appear high initially. A non-paying company with however high earnings means nothing to you as a blog/website owner. There are much better options out there such as Chitika, Clickbank, , and Adbrite.
- Advertisers: Think twice sinking in money to advertise on the Advertlets network. Even though their network is rather large, this company is incurring the wrath of alot of publishers and maybe losing these bloggers steadily. There is quite a fair bit of negative publicity and criticisms by disgruntled bloggers and website owners towards this company (examples: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). A Google search on the term Advertlets Scam throws out these results. Do you really want your prestigious brands to be associated with a company with poor reputation?

You are not the first and definitely not going to be the last. Advertlets works like a ponzi scheme: suck in new victims, make them quit on themselves, rinse and repeat…
I have not used Advertlets before but based on your review, I am not going to try them out.
But it is strange that a few reputable bloggers (like Mr Wang Says So) are still using them. Maybe Advertlets paying out selectively or taking very long time.
Ahhh.. well, looks like another one being Advertlets’ victim. Is only the few prominent ones that usually with Advertlets
One word: persevere.
Three words: continue chasing Advertlets!

interesting read. Not that I’m defending advertlets or anything, but heck, I don’t really bother.
Just sharing that internet blogging to make $$ is sorta like a side-job that shouldn’t be taken too seriously. If you want to make big bucks, go get a proper job.
Blogging should be fun first, money making 2nd. heck, eventhough I have advertlets on my blog, I don’t give a damn whether am I making anything or not.

Yongwei92: Try different ad formats – the 728×90 and 336×280 formats currently have more ads than the Sidebar 165×240 format for Singapore.
Yongwei92: You may experience better earnings through using the 728×90 and 336×280 formats, there are currently more ads for that format. Based on your traffic, it should be not be long for it to cross over the threshold needed to cash out as earnings are generated based on unique visitors to your blog.
Wah lol didn’t expect so much responses for this post.
@Jessen – I use a mixture lah
@yongwei92 – Thanks for the suggestion yongwei. Fortunately I will not need to pursue the legal option.
@Dave – With the latest developments, the ponzi scheme suggestion appears to be debunked. No?
@a_x – Some people have bad experiences with Clicksor allegedly installing malicious code on blogs’ website visitors’ browsers/pcs. Not sure if I’d ever try them.
@Derek Yap – You are totally right Derek. This is a side thing for me but since it is just earning pennies, I should be paid the pennies by the relevant multi-million-dollar ad companies promptly.
@Calvyn – Thank you! Hope to see that happening
@kelvin – Yah I remember but still must try for myself lol. Stubborn me.
@miss Sharon – True. And I did just that! Thanks!
@Advertlets Support – Thank you for helping to resolve the problems I faced. I have updated my website with this new post: http://www.wayangtimes.com/advertlets-payment-made-in-24-hours-is-not-a-scam.html
[...] In my previous post, I wondered if Advertlets is a scam advertising network as some anecdotal eviden… Fortunately, my concerns were quickly addressed in the last 24 hours by the Advertlets support team. So I suppose I can start loving Advertlets now. [...]
