How A Typical Singapore Geylang Chicken Looks Like

Partly untouched by urban projects and developments and so far spared by the gentrification process that has changed the face of Singapore since the 1970s, Geylang’s combination of shophouse scenery and hectic day and night life, foreign workers quarters and karaoke lounges provides an alternative view of elements the rest of modern Singapore generally does not have. Shophouses along Geylang Road are protected from redevelopment, and several famous eateries have sprung up along the major road. As Singaporeans are well known to love their food, many of them flock to this area at all times of the day to savour the different local and international cuisines, sometimes causing traffic jams even late into the evening.
This is also a special district for men (particularly the even numbered streets or Lorongs). Thousands of Thailand bred chickens can be found here in the various “eateries”. The amazing part is that the places serving them are actually licensed by the Singapore authorities. The pictures found here are submitted by a reader highlighting how a typical chicken look like.
