When McDonald’s Singapore began to promote Doraemon charms for the coming 2010 Chinese New Year, they probably did not anticipate such a big public backlash.
This series of charms are designed to depict the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. The problem is that McDonald’s decided to replace the pig in the zodiac, with a cupid charm to represent Valentine’s Day instead. The first day of the 2010 Chinese New Year happens to fall on Valentine’s Day. They explained that the reason for the replacement was out of sensitivity towards its Muslim customers.
How, When and Where Can I Buy or Find the McDonald’s Doraemon Pig Toy Zodiac Charm in Singapore?
After much public and online debate by many Singaporeans, McDonald’s finally decided to apologise and said that they will actually launch the pig charm in this series of toy.

The Doraemon pig lucky charm is expected to be ready around mid-April 2010 due to the production schedule. They are currently conducting a poll to estimate the demand before confirming the number of Doraemon toys to bring in.
