When is Chinese New Year?

Chinese New Year is also called other names such as the Lunar New Year, Spring Festival, Spring Holidays, or simply New Year for the Chinese. The calculation of this festival, which is arguably the most important festival or holidays for the Chinese, has its roots in the Chinese lunar calendar. Chinese New Year (CNY) begins on the 1st day of the first Chinese month on the lunar calendar, and ends on the 15th day of the same month.

The Chinese Zodiac, or Sheng Xiao, is a 12-year cycle where an animal represent each of the year in the cycle. Each cycle always begin with the year of the Rat and ends with the year of the Pig.
